Morning links: Las Vegas the 'most important' Pac-12 bowl; Bronco Mendenhall the 'Stealth Hire of the Year'

Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl Executive Director John Saccenti announces the matchup between Utah and BYU in the 2015 Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl to be held in Las Vegas on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015. The announcement was made in Las Vegas on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015.

ESPN's Ted Miller says Saturday's game is most important of the Pac-12's 10 bowls; Yahoo's Pat Forde praises Cavaliers for nabbing former BYU coach; former Logan High quarterback meets youngster in need.

In terms of prestige, the Royal Purple Las Vegas Bowl isn't exactly highest on the list.

But despite the fact that 10 Pac-12 teams will play in the postseason, including in games rich with history such as the Rose and Holiday bowls, ESPN's Ted Miller wrote Monday that Saturday's contest between Utah and BYU in Sin City is more important for the Utes than any bowl is for any other team in the Conference of Champions.
