Three of every five young Utahns who reported recently drinking alcohol also said they had used electronic cigarettes or a vaping device, state health officials said Wednesday.
Those findings, released jointly by the Utah Department of Health (UDOH) and the Utah Department of Human Services (DHS), were part of an annual youth survey that offers glimpses of how Utah youth might be combining usage of alcohol and tobacco products, including e-cigarettes.
Students in grade 8 and high-school sophomores and seniors, according to the 2017 survey, were nearly twice as likely to report having tried alcohol and e-cigarettes than conventional cigarettes, the poll found.
