PROVO — California’s Nick Boyer scored a pair of tries within four minutes in the final 12 to spearhead an inspired Bears team to a dramatic comeback victory over previously undefeated and defending champion BYU in the Penn Mutual National Rugby Championship game Saturday.
The Cougars led 29-26 heading into the final quarter but failed to take advantage of key opportunities, lost numerous lineouts and failed to control the ball on long kicks deep in their defensive territory in the final half.
