McNeese State hires BYU assistant Heath Schroyer to be their next head basketball coach

After helping the BYU basketball team revamp their approach on defense, BYU assistant Heath Schroyer will be heading to Louisiana to be the head coach at McNeese State. This will be the fourth time that Schroyer will take over as a head coach, having previously led the charge at Portland State, Wyoming and UT Martin. His overall record as a head coach is 125-143 over nine seasons.

After the departure of long-time assistant Terry Nashif, Schroyer was brought in after the 2016-17 season to help inject some life to the Cougars, specifically on defense. While there were vast improvements on that side of the ball BYU still experienced major setbacks in conference play that kept them out of the NCAA Tournament.
