A man who police officers were attempting to detain early Sunday while responding to a domestic violence call is expected to survive after shooting himself in the head, the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
After the man pulled out a gun and began to raise it, one of the deputies — “concerned for his own safety and the safety of the other law enforcement officers,” the release says — fired two shots. The man brought his gun up to his head as the deputy was firing and shot himself in the head. The deputy’s two shots missed the man and struck a vehicle parked nearby.
