Man dies after explosion at northern Utah Autoliv factory

A man died early Monday morning after an explosion at an Autliv Facilities factory in Box Elder County.

Police received a call that the Promontory factory, which produces airbags for vehicles, was on fire about 2:12 a.m., according to a news release from the Box Elder County sheriff’s office.

Ronald Larson, 64, of Cache Valley, was trapped inside the facility, and personnel at the site were trying to extricate him, the release said. Larson had reportedly been alone in the mixing portion of the building when the explosion occurred.

After he was removed from the building, he was taken to Brigham City Community Hospital with severe burns, the release said.
