LAS VEGAS — After watching BYU eliminate his team in the West Coast Conference quarterfinals at Orleans Arena Saturday afternoon, Loyola Marymount coach Mike Dunlap was gracious and complimentary of the Cougars, who won 89-81.
“We hope that BYU goes as far as they can go because they’re a class outfit,” he said. “I’ve known their coach (Dave Rose) for over two decades and he runs a really good show.”
The No. 3 seeded Cougars swept the regular-season series against the No. 6 Lions. LMU gave BYU all it could handle Saturday.
“They have a very great team, so we just want to come out and play hard,” said Shamar Johnson.
