Lone Peak’s furious rally against Florida’s Montverde Academy came up just short in Thursday’s opening round of the GEICO High School Nationals boys’ basketball tournament in New York.
The Knights, who won the Class 6A state title, rallied back from a 19-point deficit in the second quarter to take a lead in the game’s final minute before falling 87-82.
Chantry Ross’ 3-pointer with 44 seconds left gave the Knights a one-point lead, but Montverde scored the final six points to pull out the win.
