I’d like to thank Salt Lake Tribune journalist Erin Alberty for her compelling and compassionate front page story “Who Is Worth Searching For?” You gave a voice to Teja Trujillo, who is surely grieving the tragic death of her son “Chino.”
I don't fully understand the process of searching for missing persons and I don't intend to assign blame.
However, what struck me so profoundly was this family’s experience of not counting, not mattering and being unworthy of public support.
As a community, I ask, how can we be better than this? Perhaps one place to begin is for all of us who were lucky enough to be born into safety, security and privilege to repeat the old adage, "There but for the grace of God go I.
