After yet another senseless tragedy in another community, the cry is “It is time to put an end to the madness.” Yet, when the tragedies occur, we are told by our politicians (Republicans, mostly) that “now is not the time to discuss any kind of change to our gun laws.”
The horror passes, the talk dies down, and then it happens again, another tragedy. Why? Why are our politicians (Republican, mostly) so enamored of erecting barriers to a more sacred right, the right to vote, yet recoil in horror at any mention of any kind of common-sense change to our gun laws: background checks, waiting periods, etc.
