I was pleased to read that the American Geophysical Union and the Geological Society of America removed Brigham Young University’s job postings from their websites.
The folks in Provo can whine all they like about ideological diversity — a fake name for discrimination and prejudice so opaque that only a group of academics could come up with it — but remember that this is an organization that, according to its leaders, does not apologize.
The fact remains that, since the days of Wilford Woodruff, the best way to get The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to give up its most reprehensible policies (like polygamy and the priesthood ban for people of African descent) has been legal action or public embarrassment.
