LAS VEGAS — Despite a furious rally from BYU, No. 22 Utah held on to defeat the Cougars 35-28 in the Las Vegas Bowl.
Utah forced five turnovers in the first nine minutes of the game, which led to all 35 of its points. While the Utes piled up the points, the offense struggled for most of the game as BYU outgained Utah 386-197.
However, BYU, which missed a field goal in the second quarter, couldn't get on the scoreboard until end of the half when Tanner Mangum found Remington Peck for a 3-yard TD pass.
