BYU's season opener forever will be remembered for the winning pass from Tanner Mangum to Mitch Mathews on the game's final play. The game's ending became the bigger story, obviously. Yet regardless of how this year plays out for Mangum and the Cougars, having another of Hill's seasons end so soon is a stunning hit for him and anyone who has appreciated watching him play football.
That includes BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe, whose tweet Saturday labeled Hill "By far, my favorite player EVER to wear Cougar Blue!"
That's saying a lot.
All kinds of good story material comes into play now, which is nice for me, except it comes at the cost of Hill's would-be senior season — and who knows what's ahead for him, at this point?
