PROVO — While freshman Joe Critchlow is BYU’s starter as the Cougars enter the final two games, his backup, freshman Kody Wilstead, is waiting in the wings.
Wilstead hasn’t played this season but he’s ready to burn his redshirt if needed.
“Kody’s ready to go. He’s champing at the bit. He wants to get his shot, too,” said offensive coordinator Ty Detmer. “He’s got a live arm. There’s a big upside there as well. We’re getting him ready, if called upon. If things aren’t going great and it’s the quarterback’s problem, then Kody will get an opportunity.
