The council didn’t hear public comment on the Adams vote, but one woman stood to speak her support for him anyway.
The mayor cut her off because she was commenting during a period set aside for another agenda item.
There has been a pattern of Adams, who sat on the council for two years, using his office to intimidate employees and those who don’t agree with him, including other council members, according to Councilman Jake Garn. Adams uses similar tactics to what he’s been accused of in the extortion case, he said.
In January 2016, Adams’ first month as a councilman, he said the public works department wasn’t taking enough bids, and was awarding contracts to family members of the department’s then-director, Larry Mills.
