Taylorsville • The Herriman High softball team won the 6A softball championship Thursday with a resounding 9-3 win over Layton at Norma Carr Field on Salt Lake City Community College’s Taylorsville campus.
Herriman used a six-run third inning to beak the game open after trailing 1-0. A run in the fourth and two in the sixth gave Herriman a 9-1 advantage.
Herriman pitcher Libby Parkinson hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the third that starting the scoring and gave her team a lead it didn’t relinquish.
