A 68-year-old tourist died Tuesday in Zion National Park on the lower portion of the popular trail leading to Angels Landing.
The man, who was part of a tour group from Germany, appeared to have had a medical condition and collapsed while hiking, park spokeswoman Eleanor Siebers said. Crews responded about 2:30 p.m. but were not able to resuscitate him.
The group was on the West Rim Trail, a roughly 17-mile and strenuous path that many take to the iconic Angels Landing rock formation.
The man’s name has not yet been released. He is the second person to die in the park this year.
