Former Provo High School and BYU basketball star Kyle Collinsworth, the NCAA's all-time leader in career triple-doubles with 12, has been waived by the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks made the move on Saturday in advance of the Oct. 24 deadline for NBA teams to finalize their opening day rosters. The league's season begins the following day.
A polarizing prospect coming out of college, the 6-foot-6 versatile Collinsworth signed with Dallas as a free agent in July after playing for the team in summer league, but had an uphill battle to make the Mavericks squad.
On Thursday, Dallas guaranteed the contract of Nicolas Brussino, bringing the Mavericks to the maximum of 15 allowable guaranteed contracts.
