Finding a Power 5 home for all BYU sports is on Tom Holmoe’s mind

BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe stressed the importance of finding a permanent Power 5 conference home for all Cougar sports just days after the Big 12 announced it will evaluate expansion candidates.

“We’ve got a long way to go to prove our point, but we’re going to get after it.”

SALT LAKE CITY — BYU athletic director Tom Holmoe stressed the importance of finding a permanent Power 5 conference home for all Cougar sports just days after the Big 12 announced it will evaluate expansion candidates.

“When I watch our football team and our basketball team and all our Olympic sports have a hard time getting games with Power 5 schools in non-conference play, it’s tough for all those sports,” Holmoe said during a press conference Thursday for the Beehive Classic, a new basketball doubleheader that will feature BYU, Utah, Utah State and Weber State at Vivint Arena starting in 2017.
