PROVO — Erik Mika's has been invited to join the Miami Heat's summer league camp in hopes of earning a spot and a contract as he pursues a professional career, BYU said Friday. The former Cougar was not selected during Thursday's draft.
Only one year removed from his two-year LDS missionary service to Italy, Mika exceeded expectations playing as a sophomore and opted to forgo his final two years of eligibility with men's BYU basketball team. A big factor in his decision was working to develop as a power forward, rather than the back-to-the-basket center-type position he excelled at in college.
