PROVO — BYU has gone through some tough situations at the quarterback position the last couple of seasons, having lost Taysom Hill to injuries in back-to-back years.
East Carolina, the Cougars’ opponent Saturday, meanwhile, has dealt with a veritable QB carousel in recent months.
First, the Pirates lost Shane Carden to the NFL last spring. Kurt Benkert, the projected starter, suffered a season-ending knee injury in August. Then Benkert’s backup left the program.
That left junior Blake Kemp and junior college transfer James Summers.
As it turns out, both Kemp and Summers have played well in ECU’s two-quarterback system.
