One of the ways Rena Williams Chesser trained for the Olympic trials was by pushing her twins in a stroller on 6-mile runs — which was as far as the children could endure.
Rena Williams Chesser, a 33-year-old mother of 4 and former BYU All-American, seemed to come out of nowhere to qualify for the finals of the steeplechase in the Olympic Trials. The joy she found in running offset tragic upheaval in her personal life.
“I can’t be disappointed,” she says now, looking back. “My dad gave me a (LDS Church) blessing in which he said you’ll know you gave it everything you had.
