EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State players shuffled off the field with eyes and heads down after handshakes in Spartan Stadium Saturday. BYU’s squad, pent-up emotion flowing free, headed to the stands to celebrate a win with adoring fans. Smiles on faces were frozen wide, like they’d won the lottery.
BYU had just defeated Michigan State 31-14.
Jumping up and down, Cougar running back coach Reno Mahe led the school song with both arms high as an army of white jerseys screamed out lyrics at the highest decibel they could muster.
