PROVO — Because BYU opens the season Saturday against an FCS opponent, Portland State, it would make sense to limit the playbook and not reveal too much for future games against the likes of Louisiana State, Utah and Wisconsin.
But offensive coordinator Ty Detmer said he’s not planning on holding anything back against the Vikings.
“No, I think you get yourself in trouble going into a game thinking that. You want to be able to work on the offense in a game, too,” Detmer said Wednesday. “It’s important to get game-speed. We don’t sit there and say, ‘Well, don’t want to show that, we don’t want to show that.
