Despite injury, Mangum, Brown lead BYU to a hard-fought victory over ECU

PROVO — In a game where BYU had another quarterback injured, it was a running back who led the Cougars to victory.

Algernon Brown scored four touchdowns, including the game-winner with 19 seconds left on the clock to help BYU top East Carolina 45-38. Brown ran for 133 yards, rushing for three touchdowns. He also had 20 receiving yards.

Tanner Mangum had another stellar game despite missing nearly all of the fourth quarter due to a hamstring injury, throwing for 323 yards on 24 of 33 attempts.

Freshman Beau Hoge struggled in his place, completing just one pass while throwing one interception.
