Death penalty will be sought for suspect accused of shooting a man who was in his ex-girlfriend's bed

Iron County prosecutors say they will seek the death penalty for a defendant accused of shooting and killing a man who was in his ex-girlfriend’s bed.

Mark Mair, 28, is charged in 5th District Court with aggravated murder and other charges in connection to the July 2016 death of 34-year-old Justin Hanna.

Mair went to a Cedar City trailer home in the early morning hours of July 24, 2016, and pushed in a fan sitting in a bedroom window, according to charging documents. He then allegedly leaned through the window and began firing a gun towards Hanna and Mair’s ex-girlfriend, who had been in a bed together.
