Authorities in Carbon County are cleaning up after a crash on Thursday night resulted in an 8,000-gallon crude oil spill on Highway 6 near the Carbonville on-ramp that covered the road and leaked into the Price River.
According to the Carbon County Sheriff’s office, Hazmat technicians placed booms at multiple locations downstream. The Price River Water Improvement District and the Environmental Protection Agency have both been alerted and have issued a statement that the local drinking and irrigation water are both safe.
“This incident took place below the water treatment plant, meaning that the spill is not affecting drinking water or agricultural water,” the sheriff's office posted on Facebook.
