Brigham Young Cougars forward Yoeli Childs (23) dunks the ball against Portland Pilots during the second half at the Marriott Center in Provo on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019. The Brigham Young Cougars beat the Portland Pilots 79-56.

Yoeli Childs will miss the start his senior season, as the NCAA suspended BYU’s star forward for nine games for a violation of new NCAA agent/draft rules, the school announced Friday.

Childs declared for the 2019 NBA draft following this past season and signed with an agent, and the NCAA “determined he was not in compliance with the new rules instituted during the 2018-19 season as a response to the 2018 Rice Commission Report,” according to a BYU release.
