PROVO — Thanks to his strong performance in recent weeks, BYU freshman cornerback Dayan Lake has jumped into a starting role.
It’s not something Lake necessarily thought would happen earlier this season.
“I didn’t expect to start because we had a ton of corners coming in,” Lake said. “I wanted to compete for a starting spot. I focused on getting better with Troy Warner and Mike Davis. It motivated me.”
Lake has made 38 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, two interceptions (including a pick-six against Boise State), two pass breakups, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder from Layton, has made steady improvement this season.
