PORTLAND — The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced Thursday that BYU forward Yoeli Childs is one of 10 candidates for the 2019 Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award.

Named after former Utah Jazz star and Hall of Famer Karl Malone, the honor recognizes the top power forwards in college basketball. A national committee whittled the list from 20 in October to 10.

Childs averages a team-high of 21.2 points and a team-high of 9.5 rebounds while shooting 52.5 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free-throw line. The Bingham High product ranks in the top 30 in the nation in scoring, rebounding and double-doubles and is a two-time West Coast Conference Player of the Week.
