The game was not always pretty, but we learned a lot about what BYU's rotation looks like. A handful of players showed how they have improved their game in the offseason. In the first game of the post-Tyler Haws era, fans got a taste who will have increased scoring responsibilities.
Kyle Davis scored 17 points and hauled in a BYU men's basketball record for a season opener with 20 rebounds as the Cougars earned an easy season opening victory over Utah Valley, 85-54. Chase Fischer added 20 points on 7/13 shooting, and Kyle Collinsworth might have gotten a triple double had this game not been a blowout, finishing with 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.
