For the first time in the 2016 season, the No. 66 BYU men’s tennis team lost in West Coast Conference play, losing to No. 32 San Diego, 4-0, on Saturday.
BYU (14-5, 3-1 WCC) went down early by dropping the doubles point. John Pearce and Jacob Sullivan won the only match of the day for the Cougars, defeating the Toreros team of Filip Vittek and Jaan Kononov, 6-2. Keaton Cullimore and Aidan Carrazedo lost 3-6 to the San Diego doubles team of Romain Kalaydijan and Alexandros Araouzos, and Cougars Jeremy Bourgeois and Andrey Goryachkov fell 4-6 to Jordan Angus and Joshua Page, which secured a 1-0 lead for the Toreros.
