Sophomore Kate Cusick led BYU women's tennis to a 4-0 sweep over San Francisco in its West Coast Conference home opener Friday.
"I thought the girls did a great job today," BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. "Looking to build off today's big win going into tomorrow."
The Cougars (5-3, 2-1 WCC) took control of the match right from the start and dominated doubles. Junior Taylah Beckman and sophomore Samantha Smith defeated Anna Sokiran and Alexa Meyer of San Francisco (1-6, 0-1 WCC), 6-1, to secure the first doubles win.
Sophomores Cusick and Polina Malykh followed up with a 6-0 sweep over the Dons' Shanna Dos Santos and Margarita Treyes to give BYU the 1-0 lead.
