Payton Sorenson of BYU placed 15th in the 50 meter freestyle finals at the Phillips 66 National Championship/World Championship Team Trials on Saturday evening.
“I’m so happy for Payton to have had the chance to race at night with some of the top swimmers in the world,” BYU coach John Brooks said. “Representing BYU at this meet is pretty awesome, too.”
The BYU senior-to-be from Mesa, Arizona, clocked 22.56 in the finals and qualified as one of 24 swimmers for the finals with a time of 22.51 in Saturday morning’s preliminaries, the 12th-best out of the 60 swimmers competing in the event.
