BYU stops two-point attempt in final minute, holds on for 17-16 win over San Jose State

BYU stopped a two-point conversion attempt with 45 seconds remaining and the Cougars held on for a closer-than-expected 17-16 victory against San Jose State at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, Calif., Friday night.

San Jose State quarterback Kenny Potter rushed for 34 yards on a fourth and 1 in Spartan territory on the team's final drive, helping set up a Potter 6-yard touchdown run that made it a one-point game. The Spartans gambled and went for two, but the pass from running back Tyler Ervin fell incomplete.

The ensuing onside kick went out of bounds, and BYU ran out the clock.
