Provo • BYU women’s basketball coach Jeff Judkins said last fall that new recruit Shaylee Gonzales would become one of the best players in school history when all was said and done.
Gonzales proved that assessment to be on target her freshman season, as she led the Cougars in scoring with a 17.0 average and helped them win the West Coast Conference tournament title and an NCAA Tournament game.
Gonzales is in Colorado Springs, Colo., this week as one of 30 athletes invited to participate in the 2019 USA Women’s U19 World Cup Trials.
