The BYU Cougars will now have three in-state opponents on the football field in 2016.
In a joint statement with Southern Utah University, BYU announced Tuesday that the Cougars and Thunderbirds will face each other in Provo on Nov. 12, 2016.
According to the release, both schools had to alter their schedules to make the matchup happen. BYU's game against Cincinnati has been moved to Nov. 5, and Southern Utah will face Northern Arizona on Nov. 19.
It will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
“We needed a home game to finalize our 2016 schedule and SUU had an opening," said Cougars athletic director Tom Holmoe in a statement.
