Arissa Paulson struck out a career-high nine and No. 20 BYU softball had 10 hits in its 10-2 run-rule win in six innings in the UCCU Crosstown Clash against Utah Valley on Monday at Gail Miller Field.
"We're trying to stay focused and compete every time we play, and that's what we got today," BYU head coach Gordon Eakin said. "We had great discipline at the plate today."
The Cougars (41-10) increased their winning streak to 20 games and remained perfect at home (15-0) this season behind Paulson's strong game in the circle and two-RBI games from Ashley Thompson, Alexa Strid and Brooke Vander Heide.
