BYU softball: Cougars will make their 12th-straight NCAA appearance, face Mizzou

The most successful sport at BYU, year in and year out, might just be women's softball.

The Cougars wrapped up their eighth-straight conference championship — spanning four different conferences — last week with a 1-0 win over San Diego in 12 innings. It was BYU's third-straight West Coast Conference title. The Cougars remain the only team to have won the WCC women's softball title, since the conference added the sport in 2014.

On Sunday, coach Gordon Eakin's highly successful program learned it will be playing in the Columbia, Missouri, regional of the NCAA Tournament. It will be BYU's 12th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, and 13th overall.
