PROVO — BYU quarterback Zach Wilson, seen around campus with a sling on his throwing shoulder the past two weeks, has joined other teammates in recovery rehab from postseason surgery, according to BYU football spokesman Brett Pyne.
Wilson is expected to enter spring football practice in a few weeks with a similar role as Tanner Mangum had a year ago — he will participate, be on the field, be in meetings, and be part of the huddles before snaps, but will not throw the football, said Pyne.
While no timeline has been announced as to when Wilson will be able to throw, a source familiar with the Wilson case said it could be late spring, May or June, but at that time he will be throwing the ball harder and with more velocity than he did in setting a BYU bowl record for accuracy in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in December when he completed a perfect 18 of 18 of his passes.
