Jeffrey D. Allred,
PROVO — BYU suffered a painful defeat last Saturday against West Virginia, but Cougar offensive lineman Parker Dawe felt a different kind of pain earlier that week.
A sharp, constant stomach ache forced him to the emergency room several days before the game.
“I thought my appendix had burst because it hurt so bad Tuesday. I couldn’t walk. It got worse and worse,” Dawe said. “When I got there they gave me pain medication. It was nasty.”
Dawe had kidney stones and doctors also diagnosed him with epiploic appendagitis, a non-surgical, inflammatory process of the epiploic appendices.
