BYU notebook: Kafentzis willing to take a step back

PROVO — BYU sophomore Austin Kafentzis' collegiate career has been far different from his prep career, but the former Jordan High standout is working hard to get back to contributing during game situations.

While at Jordan, Kafentzis started at quarterback for four seasons, while putting up record numbers. After originally signing with Wisconsin, the 6-1, 185-pound athlete transferred to Nevada and then Arizona Western (JC) before winding up at BYU.

However, he's no longer at quarterback, opting to try his hand at running back and slot receiver.

“You have to take a step back to move forward,” Kafentzis said.
