PROVO — No Brenden Sander, no Leo Durkin, no problem for the No. 5-ranked BYU men's volleyball team in its straight set win (25-22, 25-22, 26-24) over Barton on Saturday night at the Smith Fieldhouse.
BYU coach Shawn Olmstead chose to rest his two senior standouts throughout Saturday's match, along with regulars such as Erik Sikes and Miki Jauhiainen, while getting good looks to several players who don't normally garner much playing time.
"We're happy about it and that was our plan going in," Olmstead said of Saturday's plan to sit several starters. "We got a few touches for some guys who don't normally get to play for us right now, and stick with them through some rough moments, and … so it was good.
