Provo, Utah — After beating USC in the MPSF Tournament Semifinals, the number-one seeded Cougars beat number two seed UCLA in four sets (17-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-21) to win the MPSF Tournament championship.
Star Senior Brenden Sander led the way for the Cougars, as he finished the night with 18 kills and 5 blocks. Garcia Fernandez added 12 kills, while setter Leo Durkin had 37 assists.
With the win, BYU earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament semifinals in Los Angeles on UCLA’s campus. This is the fifth time in six years that BYU has qualified for the NCAA Tournament, with BYU getting to the championship game each of the last two years; BYU fell in both of those title games to Ohio State.
