The BYU Men’s soccer team hosted Utah on Saturday night at South Field and crushed the Utes 5-1 in the season opener.
The Cougars opened with possession and dominated the early stages, going up 2-0 inside 25 minutes. BYU would hold that lead until halftime, allowing no great chances for the Utes.
BYU continued its dominance in the second half, going up 5-0 before giving up a late goal on a Utah set-piece. The Cougars controlled possession and attacked the Utes from every angle, dominating the midfield and sending through balls into dangerous positions.
BYU remains undefeated in their conference play since returning to club soccer.
