BOISE — BYU running back Jamaal Williams was sidelined with an ankle injury and the Cougar defense gave up a slew of big plays.
No. 14 Boise State, meanwhile, countered by surrendering five turnovers.
But BYU couldn’t fully capitalize.
In the end, the Broncos blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt with ten seconds remaining and held on to edge the Cougars 28-27 before a crowd of 34,575 at Albertsons Stadium Thursday night.
Against Utah, BYU forced six turnovers, scoring 13 points on those, and lost. Thursday the Cougars got five turnovers and scored 17 points.
