It was a Tuesday night in early September 2014. I was walking in a long, narrow packed parking lot and mumbled "It's balmy outside" to myself. Stepping inside the Peaks Ice Arena, I felt dramatic atmospheric change. 60 degrees Fahrenheit, 30% humidity, and the smell of cold. This information travelled the synapses in my and body screamed, "HOCKEY!" Truly is one of the best sensations on earth.
I was about to meet the BYU Hockey team for the first time. The team had just finished practice. Head Coach Ed Gantt knew I was going to be there, saw me awkwardly loitering in the tunnel beneath the stands at the Peaks Ice Arena, pieced together who I was and introduced himself quickly before he went into the locker room.
