BYU football receives commitment from JUCO OL, Oregon decommit John Vaka

The University of Oregon's firing of head football coach Mark Helfrich has proven to be an immediate gain for BYU.

On Sunday, offensive lineman John Vaka of Diablo Valley College in California announced his commitment to the Cougars as part of their 2017 recruiting class after decommitting from the Ducks on December 6.

He announced his pledge via Instagram.

First exposure to football came from watching my cousin Moe play for BYU. Coolest thing as a kid to see fam doing work. Changed schools cause I feel like this is right. I'm committed to Brigham Young University, I'm a Cougar!
