How will the punting game perform with two newcomers after Scott Arellano's exit? Will the return game get more explosive?

A pair of key returnees — one at kicker and another a return specialist — alleviate part of the worry at special teams. How some fresh faces, and a few other experienced veterans, can make their contributions will affect just how reliable special teams can be for the Cougars this season.

Returning experience

Back is senior kicker Trevor Samson (5-11, 177) after a successful junior season, when he made 12-of-14 field goals in his first year as BYU's starting kicker.
