PROVO — Going into the 2014 season, the BYU defensive secondary appeared to have the pieces in place to be solid along the back line.
By year's end, though, a variety of factors, including a bevy of injuries and on-field struggles, had the Cougars falling to 114th nationally in pass defense, giving up 269.7 passing yards per game.
For BYU to have a realistic chance of improving on three straight 8-5 seasons, this must improve. The Cougars are hoping several returning players can learn from a growing season and combine with an influx of fresh talent to make the back-end of the defense much more formidable in 2015.
